Sharks 2 v Twisters 1

A good win by a team working well together, with goals from Robbie and Nick. The boys played well when able to keep possesion and also played well in defence. Every week is hard to pick one or two players out of a team effort, Daniel worked hard in the mids with Luke improving, Chris, Jacob and Matthew doing the job at the back along with the keepers Matthew and Nick. Anthony did extremely well giving the team his commitment even though being overcome with the flu. Well done guys.

Although we lost the game we played very well. It is always a pleasure to watch these two teams play. Sportsmanship is the name of the game. The boys passed the ball amongst themselves and all goals were team goals, with every player backing up and supporting each other. Perhaps some of the older teams should come and watch these kids play soccer. Have a great holiday and we will see you in two weeks. Well done team.

4,14 & 15 June

Senior Ladies
Makos 0 v Strikers 4

Whilst i felt that some of Syd,s stars may still be at the WORLD CUP it did not detract from the gutsy and competitive game played by the MAKOS,we found ourselves a bit lost at times for we were attacking and not used to it .Strong games from everyone and a great turnout .Welcome Fran and to see Janelles header was worth the admission price.

Under 17
Sharks 1 v Strikers 0

An extremely entertaining close match between the two sides. Our goal was one of the best goals I have seen for quite some time and was driven in by Dane who recieved the ball from Brad after a pass back from Niel, each pass being over 25m taking the play from the box to the left wing and back to the right corner of the box, a great move. Great win team.

Under 13
Sharks 8 v Hammerheads 1

The start of the second round saw the sharks play some excellent teamwork with 8 team goals with all members of the team putting in a contribution to the effort. The stand out efforts were Luke and Jake for their passing and Daniel for his rugged untiring work in the midfield. Three Goals each scored by Robbie and Anthony and 2 from Daniel. Great effort team.

Under 11
Sharks 2 v FCAC 1

Not one of our better games. Several of the players were carrying illness and this with some sloppy play made for a slow game. Cameron Baker and Tim Shaw scored goal each to give us a narrow win. The shark goalie, Adam Donnelly kept the sharks in the game with some important saves.

Under 10
Sharks 1 v Strikers 5

Great game to watch boys , keep up the good work and be rewarded.

The Sharks had a fine game against and as the Sharks coach I would like to compliment the Twisters on a good game that they played. the Sharks who scored were Trent Searle and Arian Dubroy with one each and Cameron Baker with three goals. It is wonderful to see the improvement in all the players on the field with each game they play.

Under 10

Under 8
Makos 3 v Lions 0

What a great game of soccer played by both teams. Although most of lines could not be seen, both teams displayed great sportsmanship and honesty. Many thanks to the parents and people that ran the lines to help us. Our goals were scored through team work with the ball being passed from one end of the field to the other on each occassion. It is difficult to pick best players as every member of the team played extremely well. Keep up the good team work boys.

Under 7
Hammerheads 4 v Twisters 1

21-25 May

Senior Women
Makos 2 v Coyotes 3

This was a very even game with play from end to end,MAKOS off to an early 2 goal lead and pressuring the other side well, however a couple of lapses in our game allowed the opposition to score easy goals, thanks to Angela who came at short notice to give us a full team 20 mins into the game.Good to see Sally and Gia get goals and great play from everyone. We deserve a weeks break.

Under 17
Sharks 2 v FCAC 1

A tight fair and open game of football with Dane scoring very early. 1-1 at the half , the boys came out in the second with the same enthusiasm as the first and Jay got our second. The team played as a team should with both goals being team goals. Well done lads.

Under 13
Hammerheads 4 v Panthers 6

Our hats off to Cam and his Panther team, they were a better side on the day,but the Hammerheads are a bunch of gutsy players and its only a matter of time before they show their brilliance.Team captain Patrick Tunnah, goalie Martin Reddicliffe, full back Luke Wolter, wingmen Jordon Agius and Mitchell(bigs) Jenkins all put on exceptional displays.Jordon scored twice(well done mate)and one goal each to Patrick and our new star-Foward Greg Coulson.Well done also to our backs Akin Alagoz,Sam Gibbs,Daniel Mendez,Ben Struik, keep that brick wall happening men, also special mention for huge efforts by Travis Driver and pocket dynamo Jake Muir.LOOOK OUT for the Hammerheads
Sharks 0 v Hurricanes 1
A close game with both sides evenly matched with Hurricanes putting away one of there couple of chances. Our finishing needs a little work with us having the edge on the play even being one player down. Well done boys, Hats off to all with thanks to Bradley who did a terrific job.

Under 10
Sharks 4 v Panthers 1

The wet weather did not dapmpen the Sharks attack. As coach and I'm sure viewers enjoyed some of the excellent passing displays put on by the Sharks. The tic-tac-toe passing was a pleasure to watch. Scoring one goals each for the Sharks, Joshua Russell, Trent Searle, Harley Kuhner and Arian Dubroy. The final score 4 - 1 in favour of the Sharks. Congratulations to Brent Fry who played out of his usual position and was a main-stay on defense. Congratulations to the Shark players for a fine effort, which seems to improve each game.
Makos 1 v Tigers 9
with no coach and many players away the team really toughed it out, all our guys and gal put in a big effort.
Hammerheads 0 v Lions 15
What an effort team--Great team work shown by all! We are still putting way too much pressure on our goalie though.

Under 6
Makos 1 v FCAC 1

The fellas didnt seem to adjust to the slippery and cooler conditions and didnt play with their usual vigour, good even game and a typical goal from Jack,i think it will be hard to get Thomas out of goals now and the MAN OF THE MATCH was Kaine.

18 May

Senior women
Makos 1 v FCAC White 0
This is the first game the girls have ever won and they were understandably very happy,it was a very scrappy game with work still to be done on positions but standouts with strong games were Sally, Erin, Gia, Karen, Cassie Paula etc etc. In typical MAKOS style, Jocelyn, the goalscorer was way out of position. GO GIRLS

Under 17
Sharks 0 v Bayside 1

A very close encounter with only 2 shots on target from both sides with the opposition netting theirs and a very good save denying our chance. Well played all round team.

Under 13
Sharks 2 v Panthers 1

A good win with only 10 players available. A game between the both sets of forwards and backs with a good consistant performance by Jacob supported by Chris and Matthew. Timothy and Robbie combined well up front with some good breaks with Daniel and Anthony providing the stable link between the forward and backs.
Hammerheads 6 v Twisters 3
With no reserves on both sides each team did well in the heat of the day. The training paid off guys with three goals scored and great marking up by all players. With a little more training a win is not to far away. Great goal saving by Martin and Jake. Patrick, Travis, Jordan and Jacob did well in the forwards. Great game boys.

Under 11
Sharks 5 v Pumas 3

The Sharks displayed some fine offensive play in the first half to take an early lead. A coaching error in the second half, removing three strong players at one time fchanged the tide of the game. The pumas came back and scored two goals. The Sharks goal scoreres were Harley Kuhner with 3, Trent Searle with 1 and Tim Shaw with 1. The coach of the Sharks would like to congratulate key players who put 100% on Saturday into that game; Jarryd Dickinson, Ben Hindmarsh, Trent Searle, Arian Dubroy, Joshua Russell and Harley Kuhner.

Under 10

10 & 11 May

Senior Women
Makos 0 v Sharks 8
A full compliment of players, even had to knock one back,MAGIC.Playing our classy fellow clubmates we were just intent on individual marking and playing hard, with a lot of new players to the sport we were quite lost in first half and conceded most of our goals. However coaches talk at halftime was brilliant and we came out with a new determination and really FRUSTRATED the sharks who failed to score only after a major reshuffle of the team . GREAT GAME GIRLS AND WE ARE ON THE ROAD

U13
Sharks 0 v Twisters 3
The game was more even than the final score the difference being in defensive teamwork and individual brilliance from the opposition. Man of the match to Jacob Bean supported by Daniel, Timothy, Kyle and Robbie.

U11
Sharks 1 v Panthers 3
It finally happened, like all good teams a winning run must come to an end. Our team may have lost 3-1 but until the half time whistle we were the time to beat. At least according to me, the coach. Our team played exceptionally well defensively and had a disorganizational lapse after the half. But we lost with dignity and will come out to
win the next game. Our lone goal scorer was Harley Kuhner. Thank you to alll the boys who put 100% into the game.

Under 10
Makos 12 v Leopards 0

Sharks 1 v Strikers 8

Under 6
Makos 5 v Sharks 2
Makos - Great game ,thanks to Josh who volunteered to play for the other side so that everyone got to play for the whole game. Welcome to Lincoln who also became man of the match and fitted in really well.
Goals scored by Jack and Will were set up by the rest of the team which goes to show how keen the under 6 Makos are and will be a force to be reckoned with in the future.
Sharks - A good fast moving game with plenty of goals scored. All sharks need a bit of tackling training to complement their new found scoring ability. Great goals kicked by Mitchell Sutton and Jordan Sempf.

26-27 April

Senior Men
Bushrangers 3 v FCAC 5
The Bushrangers 2002 season is having a rocky start with this the third game of the season up against our old enemy FCAC.The game started at a blistering pace with nothing between the two sides with all challenges to be felt that Sunday morning. Justin Stevenson covered all the pitch in the first half from the midfield. At the break the Bushrangers were 2-1 with the goalkeeper on the bench injured. The second half started much the same, fast and hard at the ball with some unskillful challenges from both sides. The Bushrangers ran out of legs and aloud the FCAC back into the game. At 3-3 the collage lost a player and the younger more determined Collage team stepped up a gear to give the Bushrangers a lesson in Determination and Teamwork. Bushrangers goal scores were J. Stevenson, J Bengit and Ross Dixson with an outstanding goal. Ian Kolasa and Sam Longworth both played well giving 100%.

Senior Women
Makos 1 v Wildcats 7

WE SCORED A GOAL WE SCORED A GOAL Go Cassie 10 to start and later only 9 players GUTSY effort from the girls as always .New keeper Erin after 1 hr training was MAN OF THE MATCH hehe Sally played well NEEDS TO TRAIN THOUGH

Under 15
Sharks 3 v FCAC 3

The Under 15 Sandy Straits Sharks played a spirited first half of soccer to come off at half time 3-0 down to a sharp FCAC team. But in the second half the young guns came out firing, Steven Knox started the ball rolling with a great goal leading from a determined run from James Stroud. The fight carried on with the second goal coming from our Soccer Rookie Jacy MacNee in only his second game ever he slotted it home in style. With the game now standing at 3-2 the Sharks could smell the points with every player in very hot conditions running hard chasing every ball both forward and in defense this determination lead to the third goal from Steve Knox.
Well done to all the players you all showed great commitment.

Under 13
Sharks 3 v FCAC 3
Some great teamwork saw us score within the first minute of the match and then continued the good work to score another before the break and went in at 2-1. After half time we started to forget the good work and suffered with FCAC pulling it back to 3-3 by full time. Goals to Tim(2) and Robbie.

Under 11
Sharks 5 v Twisters 0
Not one of the better games for the Sharks. However other aspects of the game saw improvement. Goal scorers were Tim Shaw with 2, Cameron Baker with 2 and Harley Kuhner with 1. Sharks coach is still experimenting with players in different positions so some players are feeling out of place and several players are playing representative games in other codes. More consistency will come as the team gets to practise and play together more often. Our defense fed the ball up to our forwards who did their jobs. Also, it is important to mention the efforts of our goalie Murray McInnes who gets better with each match. And finally the coaches thank you to those players who put in 100% effort each game they play.

Under 10
Hammerheads 0 v Strikers 11

Good work done by Shival and our goalie. We had a hard opposition. Good tackling techniques- good work!
Sharks 1 v Tigers 7

Sharks 2 v Wildcats 8
A real tough side to beat this year. First half got away from us but held our own in the last half where the score was 2-2. Well done boys . Goals to Robbie and Nick. Great effort from Chris and Jacob at the back.

Under 11
Sharks 4 v FCAC 3
Sharks and Anglican soccer clubs both played fine a fine game of soccer. the difference was the desire to score on the side of the Sharks. Tim Shaw scored in usual fashion, we now have several other players who can put the ball in the net one of those being Harley Kuhner who also thinks defensively. Our gift in this game was the strength in defense led by Arian dubroy who kept the Anglican star striker down to one two goals. With the added striker power upfront and the Sharks new dimensional defense they will be a force to be considered.

Under 10
Sharks 11 v Leopards 0

Unfortunately the Leopards were short of players so a friendly
was played. The Sharks played an excellent game with some
good passing.Goals scored by Jack-3 Joshua P-2 Joshua A-2 Maxwell-3

Makos 1 v Tigers 1

Lots of running and not much kicking towards the goal, but all had fun and were tried at the end of the game.
Hammerheads v Lions
Lions team forfeited with only 4 players so we had a fun match with Hammerheads players changing sides, 4 goals were scored and all the kids had fun.

Makos 3 v Lions 0

A very good game played be all players well done.
Sharks 1 v Twisters 0
An even match played in very good spirit with the twisters lending sharks a player to balance teams at 7 per side. Twisters were unlucky to concede an own goal. Both teams had a number of unsuccessful attempts at scoring. All sharks players performed well with Scott Muller having some great offensive runs towards goal.

Sharks 1 v Bayside 4

A tough match being one player short but we weren't disgraced only being 1-0 down at the break. The effects of chasing and giving away possesion easily showed towards the end when cramp and fatigue set in. Dane put away our equaliser. Great effort by all the guys.

First game of the new season and welcome back most of team with new and fresh faces. We have not had regular training runs and have not been working as hard as other teams(and it shows hahah)Whilst the score could be seen as embarassing I was very happy with chances we made and the fact that we made them.Strong games by Morag,Cheryl,Janette and Laurel with lots of promise shown by Karen,Erin and Tracie who have never played before.

Sharks 14 v Hammerheads 0

The boys really impressed everyone at their skills and ability to work together as a team even if only after 3 sessions. Most got on the scoresheet but the goals scored were only scored from the excellent leadup work right from the back through to the front.
Matthew McL , Robbie K, Luke and Kyle were the pick for the week with everyone up there with them.
