Under 11 Grand Final
Sharks 2 v Whales 0 . Yet another hard fought match between these two outstanding teams with our boys coming out winners with all players contributing to the cause by using the ball thoughtfully. Robert Knox finished the good leadup work in scoring both goals. Well done team, congratulations on winning the Premiership and the minor Premiership.
1/9/2000
Ladies Semi-Finals

Sharks . This was a big day for the guys, The Sportsfront Carnival, and
they felt the pressure and handled it well. A certain degree of luck is needed
in these types of knockout formulas and though we had the best of play in all
three games we did not have the luck or bounce of ball that we needed to gain
a place in the final missing by a whisker. We did however make the consolation
final but understandably the spark in the team had wained and we lost 1-0 to
the Strikers. No problems boys and Tammy I asked only for your best and am proud
that you gave me that all year. I wish to thank Sally, my wonderful manageress,
all the parents and the best bunch of kids I've ever had the privilege to be
around. If you are not back next year I'll come looking for you. GARY

Sharks played a great game against Mako's and were unlucky to lose 2-0.
In their second game against Whales , they tried hard, but went down 1-0. They
found better form and the net against Strikers to win 2-0 . They finished third
in Pool A and played Anglican College for a 3-0 win in a consolation final match.
All the boys tried hard on the day and we hope to see everybody next year. Many
thanks to coach Glen and manager Janelle for their efforts tthroughout the season.
25/8/00
Junior Girls - Semi Finals
Sharks 2 v Storm 2. What a game it was, edge of the seat stuff. The girls played another excellent game in this final for us with Michelle and Allira scoring the goals. Going into extra time neither side was going to give way. Then the penalty shoot out with Bayside winning on kicks.
Under 6
Mako's 3 v Minke's 1 - A great game by all. James Max & Ashley scored
the goals, furthermore, as a young coach , it is rewarding to see the children
have learned the facets of the game at such an early age. Thanks for a great
year and for the support of the parents. Hope you all enjoyed your first year.-
Tim and Leanne

Hammerheads 3 v Minke's 0 - Another great effort from the whole team and
they deserved the win. Congratulations to the goal scorers. Two for Camron Dixon,
and a first goal for Nathan Searle. The trier's of the week went to Jacob Cullen
and Nathan Searle. The boys went out to win, to show that in the round robin
they wont be easy beats. The team is proud to have such great support from our
sponsor, Diver's Mecca. Thank you to everyone that has supported the Hammerheads.
Watch out for us on Sunday!
Under 9
Sharks 7 v Hurricanes 1 - This game was played at 100 miles an hour by both
sides .The score was propably not indicitive of the standard played .Tim Shaw
was in everything to get 4 lovly goals and was well backed up by his namesake
Tim K. who got 2 and Scott chipped in with 1.The most pleasing thing was the
enthusiasim today .Everyone came to play GREAT. Noone more so than Ben who got
player of the match. Everyone at training please or NO chocolate
Under 10
Sharks 1 v Hammerheads 1 - Sharks played very well for a 1 to 1 draw against
the Hammerheads. Daniel Upton and Brendon Fahey both had good games in their
new attacking fullback roles which should be great for the team in Sunday's
round robin. Joshua Grima had a busy game and Sam Trail put in a very determined
effort also . This was yet another great defensive effort and showed excellent
potential to improve scoring using coach Glen's new team strategy.
Under 11
Sharks 2 v Whales 0 - Another great win. All the boys played well and reversed
the result of last weeks game. Anthony Devereaux and Robbie Knox scored for
us. Team players of the week were Matthew Cartwright and Robbie Knox. Keep up
the good work for the Grand final boys.
Under 6
Mako's 3 v FCAC(M) - All the team played well again. It is very rewarding
as a coach to see these young players master the facets of soccer and work together
so well as a team. The passing between each other is excellent. Team Achievers
this week were James Bowers and Sam Reddicliffe. Our goals were scored by Ashleigh
and James scored 3. Well done team.
Under 9
Sharks 2 v FCAC 2 - This was a most enjoyable game and we thank the college
for the spirit it was played in. They have struggled all year with minimum ranks
and done a top job. Our two men of the match were Michael and Reiss who volunteered
to play for the college, thanks guys. Our two goals were scored by the Tims
and strong games by Ben, Jarrod, Jacob and Jackson.
Under 10
Sharks 0 v Mako's 0 - Sharks played another tough 0 to 0 draw against the
Mako's. Peter Schiller, Patrick Tunnah and Martin Reddicliffe tried hard up
front and were unlucky on several occasions. Joshua Hultgren also played well
after a long absence with illness. This was yet another great defensive effort
and showed excellent potential to improve scoring using coach Glen's new team
strategy. Remember to think about it boys!
Hammerheads 0 v Hurricanes 6 - The last two results for the Hammerheads
have been disappointing, but like the "Phoenix" they will rise again. Good games
from Elliot, Tom and both Lukes and some great saves from Cohen. Next week guys!
Under 11
Sharks 1 v Whales 2 - Well we had our first loss of the season for the last
game of the premiership. Our boys occupied the Whales half of the field for
most of the first half and a majority of the second half with our finishing
not quite paying off. Paul in goals in the second half was very unlucky not
to have kept out 2 of the 3 shots at our goal. We did score first but couldn't
keep it going. Still , it was the best game of the year all round with Robbie
Knox slotting in our goal. Adam Falzon got the Team player award for his consistency
and clever clearing to our wing and was closely followed by Daniel Korhecz,
Paul Josephson and Matthew Cartwright putting pressure on the oppossing backline
with his crosses and shots.
Mako's 1 v Strikers 2 - Excellent game to end the season. We are proud
of all you Mako's as a team, you have certainly come a long way . Thanks for
being a great bunch of lads and we shall look forward to seeing you all next
season.
Under 15
Sharks 1 v Kawungan 0 - The score wasn't a true reflection of the game.
Whales goalkeeper keeping them in the game with some good saves. Sharks as usual
only did enough to win. Cam scoring from a debatable penalty, still that's the
way it runs. Wade had a solid game as did Tim who broke up a lot of Whales play.
11/8/2000
Ladies
Sharks 1 v Kawungan Blues 1 - Michelle Gould scored in the first half from
past the 18 yard box putting Kawungan under pressure. Kawungan came back in
the second half to score the equalizer. Neither team could break the deadlock.
Under 7
Hammerheads 0 v Whales 1 - Played so well in the first half and looked like
scoring many times. Some great passing had us looking like a classy outfit.
The second half was all defence and only one got through. Well done to the Whales
and well played Hammerheads we may have better luck next week. Trier of the
week went to Camron Dixon for a great all round game. All the Kids would like
to congratulate Ross, their coach, for making the QLD mens team.
Under 9
Mako's 2 v Orcas 1 - Well the Mako's got away with a hard fought 2 -1 win
against the orcas side. Good game by Brenton, Samir, Trent and Kyle, but very
well supported by the rest of the team. Congratulations to Brenton Ruhle and
Nicholas Plummer for winning our Achiever Award. Thanks Orcas and the Mako's
for a great game !!
Under 11
Sharks 5 v Mako's 0 - Another good team effort with some good passing and
creating many opportunities. Goals scored by Nick Ryan, Matthew Cartwright Anthony
Devereaux and 2 by Robert Knox supported well by Matthew Power , and Daniel
Korhecz and Max Hatton keeping the scoresheet clean in goals. Teamplayers of
the week awarded to Lee Moran and Paul Josephson.
4/8/2000
Junior Girls
Sharks 0 v Tempest 3 - The girl's again played another excellent game, with
good team work . Melinda doing a good job in goalsunder a lot of pressure, Chelsea(c.),
Nichole played well in defencewith support from Tamara and Allira up front.
Under 6
Mako's - Another good game with Max and Ashleigh scoring our goals. Best
players were James and Ryan. Good effort team.
Under 8
Shark's 1 v Mako's 1 - It has been nearly 4 weeks since the kids have played
a game and it took them the first half to get back into the swing of things.
It was good to see Brayden our goalie back after a knee injury and he played
a great game. All kids used good team work and the match was a draw. Great game
kids.
Under 9
Shark's 5 v Whales 0 - The guys were once again asked to play in different
positions today in the never ending search for the right combination .They all
to their credit adapted well. Just basic ball skills let us down. Two nice goals
from Tim S and Rohan popping his head up with 2 and one lovely goal from Scott.
Jackson improving each week and using his skills deservedly won player of the
match . Lots of chances made by both teams. Thanks Whales
Under 10
Sharks 0 v Strikers 0 - Sharks played a tough 0 to 0 draw against the Strikers.
Sam Trail, Chris Johns and Jamie Drury tried hard all match but the boys were
unable to cross the line. Matthew Logovic also played well on the left wing.
This was another good defensive effort but eyes on the ball and more passing
as a team are needed to create more scoring chances up front.
Under 11
Sharks 2 v Strikers 0 - A dogged, improved Strikers defence kept the Sharks
from scoring a number of goals with numerous saves from the Strikers keeper.
Most of the play was played in the Strikers half of the field . The two goals
were scored by Robbie Knox and Anthony Devereaux who also won the teamplayer
of the week award . A good allround team perfornace from all the boys.
Mako's 0 v FCAC 0 - The game should have been ours with most of the play
in their half. We were just unlucky. Top efforts by all of our boys. Definite
improvement by M. Nagy, W. Ramsay and A. Schlenert. Keep up the good work lads.
Man of the match , A. Alagoz - goalie supremo !!
Men's
Sandy Straits Bushrangers 2 v FCAC 2 - After the Bushrangers win
on Thursdays semi-final the coach looks to have rested a few players in the
run up to the finals. With eleven men on the team sheet the Bushrangers allowed
the Collage boys to get into the game.Like on Thursday night there was plenty
of hard football. The Bushrangers game was not to the standard they have played
in the past weeks but it was expected with so many players being out resting. After
a good first half with a top goal from Jay and several chances missed the Bushrangerscan
in at half time fairly pleased with the score line.At half time the scores were
1-1 with all players running hard.In the second half the Bushrangers were reduced
to ten men with S.Oakley sent-off.Jay Kileen stepped into the goal and pulled-off
some top quality saves. The game finished 2-2 with the Bushrangers showing occasional
"touches of class" !
28/7/2000
Ladies
Sharks 1 v Strikers 0 - The ladies came together well in this game and were
unlucky not to score more. Kellie Vial scored the victory goal.
Sandy Straits Bushrangers 2 v FCAC 1 - Semi Final of the Favorite Pets Federation Cup was a replay of last years final. The Bushrangers went into the game with a determination to reverse last years result were the Bushrangers lost in a penalty shoot-out. With the Collage boys being once again cocky in the verbal department the Bushranger men laughed them off. The game was hard fought both teams going in hard. At full time the scores were 1-1 and extra time was played with the golden goal rule, five mins into the first half of extra time Bushrangers midfielder Matt Johnson was charged from behind in the box with the referee awarding a penalty from which Joe Longworth scored. He was desperate to get even after he missed in last years final. Now the Bushrangers take on the Bayside Strikers on Friday Night 18th August at 6.30 in the Final.
Under 7
Sharks 4 v Whales 2 - The Sharks teamwork really showed through attack and
defense . G. Knox scored 3 and J. O'Rourke 1.
Hammerheads 0 v Mako's 0 - This was another really entertaining match
with both sides giving their all for the whole game. The 0-0 scoreline was a
good result. A few goal scoring chances were missed from both sides, but none
closer than Camron's goal that was saved with less than 5 seconds to go. Well
done to all, but especially to Troy Bassan, who got our Trier of the match.
Troy got more involved and did more than ever before. See you all on Friday
for training. Ross
Under 9
Sharks 3 v Orcas 1 - Asked the team to look at different things today, play
in positions , jobs to do etc, something a good coach would have done long ago,
but thankfully i have a talented team to save me , 2 goals to Tim K., 1 to Tim
S and Scott could have got heaps . Everybody else played better such was the
beginning of our teamwork. Special mention to the parents, I couldn't wish for
better.
Makos 7 v Whales 0 - Excellent team effort by the Makos. The whole team
contributed to the win.Great effort by Samir Bektas 4goals,Devon Matuka 2,and
Kristian Petrie 1goal.Welcome back Kristian, the whole team missed you.Congratulations
to Devon Matuka and Joey Speck for winning our Encouragement Award this week.
Thanks whales for a great game.
Under 10
Sharks 0 v FCAC 1 - Sharks lost 0 to 1 and seemed to be still on holidays
against a much improved FCAC side. Chris Johns and Jamie Drury tried hard all
match but the boys were unable to cross the line. This was another good defensive
effort but eyes on the ball and big clearing kicks are needed to create more
scoring chances up front.
Hammerheads 0 v Tornadoes 3 - The holiday break certainly didn't help
the Hammerheads. We played pretty well in the first half, but the Tornadoes
were too good on the day winning 3-0. Pizza hut men of the match were Jordan
& Sam - well done guys.
Under 11
Sharks 1 v FCAC 0 - The backs got a chance to show their wares up front
this week and the forwards a chance to show their defensive skills . Everyone
showed their ability in new roles and held an improved FCAC to 1-0 with the
goal scored midway through the first half by Mathew Power. Solid games by all
making the teamplayer award difficult to choose with Matthew Power edging out
Nathan Praag, Anthony Devereaux, Daniel Korhecz and a confident Adam Falzon
.
Under 15
Sharks 7 v FCAC 2 - Even with no training for three weeks the Sharks produced
some good football with Tim pulling the strings in med field. Goal scorers Cam
2, Ryan 2, Andrew R, Todd & Tim. Strong games from Chris Ryan Todd Tim & Brayden.
Pizza Hut men of the match Andrew S & Andrew R.
21/7/2000
Junior Girls
Sharks 0 v Kawangan Hotshots 2 - The girls had some good moves, but unfortunately
Hotshots outclassed them. Chelsea Kickbride played well with some fancy foot
work. Pizza Hut achiever awards for July go to Renae Ash, Yasmin Hursburgh,
Catharina Korhecz, Tegan Wilkins, Holly Gould and Allira Jamieson. Well done
girls , excellent game.
Ladies
Sharks 2 v Strikers 4 - Sharks had difficulty getting teamplay together
allowing Strikers to take control of the game early. Rebecca 1 goal.![]()
Under 6
Makos 1 v Minkes 3 - The team plyed well again, passing the ball around
and looking for each other on the field. Our goal was scored by James Bowers
and best players for the day were Sam Bean and Kale Hose. Have a great Holiday
team.
Under 7
Hammerheads 0 v Strikers 6 - Another great effort by all the team. The
score line is not a true indication of the game. The trier of the week is Geoffrey
Fahey, who once again tried his hardest the whole game. Thanks to all the support
from the sideline, as they battled the cold, early start. Have fun on your holidays,
see you on the 21st for training.
Sharks 7 v Minkes 0 - The boys are really starting to show some really good
skills , Mitchell Broom 5 goals, John O'Rourke and Greg Knox 1 goal each.
Under 9
Mako's 1 v Sharks 0
Mako's -The Makos won a very hard fought game 1-0 against the Sharks
thanks to a early goal by Devon Matuka. The game went from one side to the other
but great defence by Samir, Barry and Joshua, helped us to win the game. Also
strong games by Brenton Kyle Joey, along with the rest of the team. Thanks Sharks
for a expected hard game. Congratulations to Samir Bektas and Joshua Russell
for winning our Outstanding Achiever Awards.
Sharks - WHAT a game! Forget the result, this was a game for our club,
great skills by the Makos, tremendous determination from the Sharks. All looks
good for the upcoming round-robin and years to come. Scott was asked to lift
for this game and did so admirably to win player of the match. Thanks Makos
for a great game Have a good holiday GUYS (and Tammy haha).
Under 10
Sharks 0 v Whales 1 - Sharks could only field 8 boys against 10 for Whales
and played very well to lose 0 to 1 in the final minutes of the game. Brendan
Punch made some great saves in the second half as goalie. Brendan Fahey was
also solid in defence as well as some long dashes to take the corners. Darcy
Pope did well in the midfield. Another great defensive effort by all the boys
but need more one two passing in attack, it works!
Under 11
Mako's 0 v Whales 6 - Once again the makos played a superb 1st half - so
why did we lose? Enthusiasm tends to drop in the second half, for some unknown
reason - but I'm sure we can work on it. Excellent 1st half boys, you should
be proud, I know I am!! A. Alogoz made many a fine save, with improving play
by B. Lewis, A. Norman and A. Schlenert , man of match M. Parsons.
Under 15
Sharks 3 v Whales 1 - Again we made plenty of chances but couldn't put the
ball away. Ryan scored from some good lead up work from Wade and Cam. Cameron
kept his record up scoring the second and Tim made the game safe with a good
goal from a move the boys had worked hard on in training the week before. Well
played guys we are starting to play some nice football in patches.
30/6/2000
Ladies
Shark's 3 v FCAC 0 - The score didn't reflect the game as the sharks peppered
the goal in an aggressive attack on FCAC. Rebecca got the 3 goals. ![]()
Under 6
Mako's 1 v FCAC (M) 1. Another good team effort with Daniel Read scoring
our goal. The team is improving each week and are passing the ball between each
other well. Best players this week were Ashliegh Fitzpatrick and Max McClean
. Well done team.
Under 7
Sharks 10 v Mako's 0. Although though kids played out of uniform they still
showed true shark spirit to win. Goals - M Broom 4, G. Knox 2, J. O'Rourke 2,
S. Fielding and H. Redman 1.
Under 8
Sharks 0 v Orcas 1. This week our team had 2 out with injuries but our kids
played a good defencive game. The first half saw Bradley Johns in goal who made
some good saves. Unfortunately the Orcas slipped one passed Shival in the second
half. The weeks encourage award goes to Lachlan who has been playing a consistant
game all season and is a good strong player in our back line.
Under 9
Sharks 2 v Strikers 4. The team was asked to lift a level this game and
though the result does not reflect it our goal was acheived. They were left
to their own devices and i think learnt some aspects of their game that they
can and need to improve on. Our goals by Rohan and Timmy Shaw. Strong games
again by Jackson, Scott and Ben in the goals. Player of the match was Callan,
who has been improving each week. A very good game by the Strikers.
Under 10
Hammerheads 1 v Mako's 2. Hammerheads played their best game this season.
After having all the pressure Hammerheads conceded a goal. They fought back
and equalised with a great goal from Elliot. Makos scored in the last minute
to win the game 2-1. Hammerheads didn't deserve to lose. Well played guys. Pizza
Hut men of the match - Luke K & Nicholas B.
Sharks 0 v Cyclones 1. Sharks had a tough battle against Cyclones and
were unlucky to lose 0 to 1 by a goal from a 'forgot my name' penalty. Joshua
Grima made some good contributions at right half to ensure their goal line was
safe. Daniel Upton was also solid in defence and put away a few big ones with
his new boots. The midfielders were solid in defence but a bit bunched like
bananas in attack. Overall, a great effort by all the boys against a top side.
Under 11
Sharks 4 v Whales 2. Good teamwork at the very start got us to a quick 3-0
lead however the boys relaxed and at half time the score 4-1. Whales managed
to score once more. Good keeping by both Max Hatton and Paul Josephson. Goals
to Robbie Knox 2, Anthony Devereaux and Nick Ryan. Teamplayer award won by Ryan
McConachie.
Mako's 3 v Strikers 4. What a game !! One of the best matches played
by the Mako's. The whole team giving their all. Sheer bad luck sent the points
to a worthy opposing team. Goal scorers M. Wecker 2, L. Atkin 1. Outstanding
play by M. Parsons and B. Bell. Man of the match L. Ogilvie.
Under 15
SHarks 4 v Strikers 0. Sharks started against only seven men but Bayside
put us under so much pressure it was hard to tell who had the seven men. In
the second half things improved with some nice football being played and Baysides
numbers improved to nine. Final score 4-0. Goal scorers Cam 2, Wade 1 and a
great goal from Jeff. Pizza Hut men of the match Chris and Wade. ![]()

Good goalkeeping by both Mako's Goalies. A good game by both teams. Well done
everyone , player of the match award Jordie Muller.
Hammerheads 0 v Minke's 0. A very even game, both teams played very well.
well done to all. All the boys played there best and a really doing well at
working as a team now. It was so hard to pick the trier of the week so we have
picked two players, Troy Bassin and James Redicliffe, both of these boys have
improved so much, well done to both of you. Well done to Nathan Searle and Camron
Dixon they didn't stop throughout the game. Well done team.
Under 8
Shark's 4 v Hammerheads 2. The fields are still very wet and our kids enjoyed
playing in the mud. It was good to see Matthew back in top form after an ankle
injury for the last few weeks. Maxwell had a great game scoring 3 of our goals
and Erek scoring the other. Good team work by all the team great playing kids.
Under 9
Shark's 3 v Hurricanes 1. Timmy Korhecz knocking on the door all season
for man of the match could not be denied today, voted by his teammates and with
two great goals. Well done you and your namesake worked well. Scotty scored
another great goal, had another great game (and haircut) and was so close to
the trophy. Special mention to Callan for his work in goals, always safe and
there when we need him thanks mate, GARY.
Mako's 4 v Strikers 2. The Mako's started the game on fire with 3 goals

work by Samir 2 goals Devon 1 goal and Trent 1 goal. Well supported by the rest
of the team. Congratulations to Trent Searle and Nicholas Plummer, for winning
our Outstanding Achiever awards. Nicholas got involved in this game more then
any this year. I'm proud of you boys and keep up the great work. Thanks to the
Strikers for a very exciting game.
Under 10
Mako's 3 v Cyclones 1. Great team work by the Mako's saw 2 great early goals
by Jeremy Roach. Cyclones scored early in the second half. Mako's 3rd goal scored
by Ashley Jansen late in the second half. Great game played by all the boys.
Sharks 2 v Hammerheads 0
Hammerheads - Hammerheads played a very good team in the SS Sharks. Half
time saw us 2 - 0 down, but we played much better in the second half. We made
some chances but just couldn't score. Final score 2 - 0 to the Sharks. Hammerheads
men of the match Dean Goodwin & Tom.
Shark's - Sharks surprised the Hammerheads in the first minute with Patrick
Tunnah finishing off a great attack up the centre. He scored again in the first
half from great passing moves with Brendan Punch. The score stayed 2 to 0 until
the final whistle. Joshua Grima made good contributions at right half to ensure
their goal line was safe. Daniel Upton was also solid in defence and put away
a few big ones with his new boots. Jamie Drury had a quiet time for his first
try at goalie in the second half due to great work by Darcy Pope and his other
backs and midfielders. Another great effort by all the boys for the whole match.
Keep up the one two passing, it works! Congratulations to Martin Reddicliffe
and Patrick Tunnah for great efforts for the Hervey Bay representative team
in the wet over the previous long weekend.
Under 11
Shark's 6 v Mako's 0.
Mako's - Mako's played a superb 1st half but lost heart rapidlyafter the
3rd goal scored by the relentless play of the Shark's. For us to succeed we
must follow the Sharks example and play to win until the final whistle, however
futile the task. Once again Timothy Rae and Joshua Holznagel gave 110%.
Shark's - Another good game of teamwork by the Shark's and we held our
postions well this week. Some good combinations are starting to develop with
the ball starting from the back and being worked right up the field and into
the net with many passes being used and even back passes. We had a tough time
picking the teamplayer of the match, Timothy Martin came up with the prize.
Goals to Anthony Devereaux 2, Robbie Knox 2, Matthew Cartwright 1 and Nick Ryan
1.
Under 15
Sharks 1 v FCAC 1. Sharks as usual started in reverse giving FCAC enough
chances to pinch the game. After going 1-0 down the Sharks finally realised
they had a game on their hands. Brayden equalised and the score remained 1-1
until the final whistle. Tim had an outstanding game in the centre of the midfield
playing some great balls. Brayden and Andrew tidied everything at the back.
16/6/2000
Ladies
Sharks 0 v Kawungan Blues 3. We held them out well in the first half with
only 10 players. After a galant defensive effort we lost the battle. Better

game gaining the Man of the Match Award.
Hammerheads 2 v FCAC 0 Congratulations to the hammerheads for another
great effort. Every week the boys are getting better, and are having lots of
fun. Thanks to FCAC for a good game. It was really hard to pick one player for
the "trier of the week" as all players played their best. So I have given the
"trier of the week" to Lucus Holand, for playing how he was shown at training.
Well done mate. Two goals were scored by Martin and Camron and a special mention
to Michael and Nathan for a wonderful game. See you all at training on the 15th
June.

Skarks 2 v FCAC 1 A great training session on friday, thanks team, and credit
to all of you for trying to do what we talked about. We seemed to play within
ourselves and goals to Scott and Rohan gave us our win, Rohan played a big game
and was voted Player of the match. Big effort also from Michael, Jackson and
Jacob. Special mention to Reiss though who couldnt play but came down to watch
his teammates play GREAT STUFF thats what its like to be a SHARK. No training
Friday. GARY
Mako's 2 v Hurricanes 1 Congratulations boys on another hard fought victory!
We again kept passing quite well, and got more ball control. Strong in defence
were KJ, Barry, Dean. Also Brenton, Joshua and Trent in midfield were very good,
supported by Devon and Samir who scored the 2 goals. Well Done Samir. Great
work in goals by the Hurricanes goal keeper. Congratulations to Joshua Russell
who was our Outstanding Achiever Award Winner. Thanks Hurricanes for a strong
game.

Mako's 0 v Sharks 0
Mako's-A slow first half with no score to either team. William Whitely had
a good game with many shots for goal. A good game by the backs Brad Salata and
Daniel Mendez. Matthew Gibbs had a strong game in the halves. Phillip Monsour
also played well. More work needed though boys , and switch on and listen at
training.
Sharks put in another great effort, after their bye round, against the
Mako's for a tough, but scoreless draw. Brendon Fahey returned after a long
absence and had a good solid game at fullback with some big clearing kicks.
Brendan Punch took his turn at goalie in the second half and did some great
work to keep the ball out. Sam Trail put in another honest effort to worry the
opposition when needed. A great effort by all the boys for the whole match.
Hammerheads 0 v Hurricanes 3 Hammerheads played well against a top side.
We are improving every week Tom & Elliott played very well with full support
from the rest of the team. Well done guys.

Sharks 3 v Strikers 1 Another goal past our defence this week in everyones
eagerness to score, leaving our mid-field non-existant. Unlucky for Daniel Korhecz
not to have stopped the second attempt after saving the first. A lesson learned
by the team. Up front we should get points for hitting the posts and finished
up with 3 good quality goals achieved through good team build up. Goals to Robert
Knox, Anthony Devereaux and a 25m scorcher by Matthew Cartwright. Team Player
of the week went to Anthony Devereaux.

Sharks 3 v Whales 2 A great game to watch with end to end soccer being

their teamwork was great. Tarrin Holznagel recieved player of the match for
getting the ball every time. Great game everyone.

Sharks 3 v Lightning 1 We got off to a slow start again going down by 1
in the first half. This team likes to put itself under pressure. Timmy Shaw
got a hat-trick and just could not be denied the Coaches Award and it was great
to see that it was judged by the players too. Other mentions to Jackson and
Ben who are getting better each game and Tammy who never stops. Great game by
all and I'm proud of you guys. GARY.

Braden Salata 1. Goal scrore for the Strikers Brent Fitzgerald.
Hammerheads 1 v Whales 4 With only seven playing against ten the Hammerheads
were 3 - 0 down at half time. In the second half we really played well and shared
it 1 -1. We went down 4-1 but with three short the guys gave everything they
had. Our two Pizza Hut men of the match were Elliot who covered every blade
of grass and Luke Wolter who had a mighty game in defence. A great team effort
from everyone.
Under 11
Sharks 7 v FCAC 1 Our first goal against the team in the points competition.
Another good display against a never give up FCAC side. We were caught out in
midfield early from overeagerness of the boys to register on the score sheet.
Nathan Praag earned the teamplayer of the week award with good support from
Ryan McConachie, Tim Martin, and Matthew McLaughlin . Goals to Matthew McLaughlin
3, Max Hatton 2 , and one each for Ryan McConachie and Anthony Devereaux.

always a hard team to play but our boys defended well. Joshua and Maxwell scored
a goal each but the whales came out winning in the end with 3 goals, Great game
played by all our kids.

Mako's 6 v B.S. Lightening 1 This was truly a team effort. From the backs
to the forwards without naming the whole team. They held position well, and
with great passing enabled the forwards to score goals. Good work in front by
K.J.,Devon and B.J. 2 goals each. The score could have been more but for some
good saves by the Lightening goal keeper. Also congratulations to B.J Rhule
who won our man of the match award.
Sharks 2 v Whales 1 We had the best of this game creating numerous chances
with a much improved standard of play. We were just denied again and again by
the keeper for the Whales who was outstanding and clearly man of the match.
A lapse in defence saw us 1-0 down at half-time. To our credit though frustrated
we didn't give up and were rewarded with a win thanks to the two Timmys who
did everything asked of them. Thanks guys. Strong games by Ben, Jackson, Reiss,
Jacob and Tammy. Though the absolute standout was Jarrod who won the trophy
and was in everything No training Friday GARY

Hammerheads 2 v FCAC 1 This was Hammerheads best game this season. Starting
very strongly they created numerous chances only to be denied by some fine saves
from the FCAC keeper. With the pressure increasing on FCAC they finally cracked
and Mark and Deano scored two good goals. The boys had many more chances but
just couldn't finish them off. The whole team played at their very best and
Jordan had a great game in defence with Nick outstanding in midfield. Great
game guys!
Sharks 4 v Strikers 1 Sharks defended aggressively against the Strikers
to win 4 goals to 1. The excellent work by the goalies, backs and midfielders
allowed Patrick Tunnah to open the score in the first half for a 1 nil lead
at half time), as well as another goal in the second half. Peter Schiller and
Martin Reddicliffe were also able to score in the second half. Matthew Logovik
and Joshua Hultgren played well in attack and defence on the left and right
wings. Another great team effort.

Sharks 7 v FCAC 0 This game was another display of how soccer is played.
Good passing and finishing and unlucky for Robert Knox whose radar was off on
the day. Goals to Nick Ryan 2, Ryan McConachie, Matthew Cartwright, Nathan Praag,
Max Hatton and Timothy Martin. Good support by Anthony Devereaux, Daniel Korhecz
and Adam Falzon. Best team player awarded to Nick Ryan.
Makos 0 v Whales 6 The Whales proving to be a worthy team. The score
does not tell the story, with 2 key players absent., the Makos gave their all
with many fine saves by A. Alagoz and the continual efforts of L. Atkins, L.
Shore & A. Norman. Their performance was both exciting and Entertaining.

Sharks 3 v FCAC 3 SS Sharks started the game with nine men against a
very organised FCAC team. Even with seven players away, Sharks showed just what
a great heart they have. They were in front all the way until FCAC equalised
in the last two minutes. The whole team gave everything with Cam scoring twice
and Chris Getting the third. The two men of the match were Cam who had a great
game up front and Todd who was a tower of strength in defence although this
was a hard choice when they all gave so much. A special mention to Bryce Roper
an U/13 player who made the big step up and didn't let us down giving his all.
Final score in a very entertaining game three all.
Senior Men
Sandy Straits Bushrangers 3 Vs Kawungan Orcas 0 .The Bushrangers played
some fantastic football, the ball play was first class with all players making
a big contribution to the final score. The first half was all the Bushrangers
with Matt giving 100% chasing every through-ball played his way, leading to
the only goal of the first half. Drews passing stood-out showing his all-round
skills. At half-time the Bushrangers should have been three to four goals up,
but hitting the target seems to be something only for training. The second half
the Bushrangers expected the Orcas to fight back, and although the scoreline
didn't show it, they did for a period cause the defense some concern. After
ten minutes Matt scored a second goal to put the Bushrangers ahead further.
The third goal was scored by Fernando to the relief and cheers of his team mates.
Despite his comments Peter Green played an outstanding game. Drew also showed
some lack of discipline. Come on boys you can beat them by just playing soccer,
sticking to rules and keeping your mouths shut !! MOM-P Green, M Johnson, D
Murray PS Some of the crowd commented on what a good game the sweeper had !

to the Whales for a great game.
Sharks 2 v Orcas 1 A good standard of soccer was a feature of this match
,the game ebbed and flowed nicely.A solo effort by Scott opened the account
but was quickly answered by the Orcas .A draw probably would have been a fair
result but to the credit of the Sharks they didnt give up and their efforts
were rewarded with a minute to go when Michael had a run from his fullback position
to snatch the game for us .Brilliant Michael but you are still fullback next

some improvements and Sharks scored twice (Cam & Wade) good games from Todd,
Tim, Brayden, Jeff & Skinner.
Senior Men
Sandy Strait Sharks 1 Vs Sandy Strait Bushrangers 1. Top of the table
battle would have been an understatement , Hervey Bay soccer at its best and
a pleasure to be part of it. The game started at a furious pace and skill levels
from both sides were excellent. Both sides struggled to take control during
the first ten minutes but it was the Bushrangers that scored first with young
Joe Longworth claiming credit of a somewhat scrappy goal.Bushrangers goalkeeper
Steward Oakley kept the ball out of the net in the first half with three excellent
saves denying the sharks an equalizer.Allan Taylor proved to be a problem for
the Bushrangers defenses expected showing some good skills in front of goal
.The second half was much of the same end to end soccer at its best the Bushrangers
would attack the sharks goal and within minutes the Sharks would be on the counter
and the Bushrangers defenders would be under pressure again. But as expected
Allan Taylor scored an equalizer to tie the game up.If the first half was the
Bushrangers the second was the Sharks. This must have been the game of the year
so far a pleasure to watch. Bushrangers MOM Jason Livingstone with others having
a great game like Drew Murray , Peter Green , Stewart Oakley and on the line

Sharks 2 v Mako's 1 - Sharks - Always expected a hard game against our

A true example of the strength of this club.We have not had good training sessions
to date ,the fault of both the coach and the team.Strong words were said and
things asked and to the credit of this team they answered the call tremendously.VERY
VERY PROUD of them.STRONG games by Michael, Reiss, Jacob and Ben.Timmy Shaw's

from players like Tony Male and Matt Johnson things improved. The old men still
had some fight in them. The Bushrangers drew level with a goal from Fernando
Conellas and then the lead from Peter Green.Several chances were missed by both
teams but the Collage scored from a corner leveling the scores again. The young
talented Bushranger Joe Longworth showed his older counterparts how to slot

Shark's 0 v Hurricanes 1. Sharks played a consistent game against Hurricanes but lost narrowly 0 to 1 goal. All of the backs defended well against the wind in the first half to hold the score at 0 to 0 at half time. Chris did plenty of work down the right wing. The Shark boys had their usual feeding frenzy on the oranges at half time and came out fired up to run with the wind. Unfortunately the Hurricanes seemed more at home in the wind and Brendan P. had to make several great saves as goalie, with only one unlucky miss. Patrick in his first match this season had one shot pass just over the top bar. New player, Jamie Drury also had a good first up match for the team despite a recent operation on his hand. A good solid effort by all team members. - David Tunnah[e-mail]
