Under 16 - Grand final
Sharks 2 v Whales 1
Well the boys did it. A very close encounter with the final score at 1-1 and
the match decided on the golden goal rule. Both of our goals resulted from well
planned corners finished of by Dane. Well done boys.
Senior Men
Hammerheads 0 v Kawungan 0
A good match to finish the season with a full side and one to proove our record
of no loses with 11 on the park.
Senior Ladies
Makos 0 v Kawungan Blues 6
Though we have a good repoire with our opposition, our aim was to limit goals
scored against us. We acheived this with typical MAKO attitude and certainly
gave them a game. Strong games from Cheryl, Janette, Michelle and Sally helped
our cause and all the girls put in a mighty effort for the last game of the
season. Hope I get offered the job next year to be a part of this team, THANKS
LADIES.
Under 16
Sharks 4 v Bayside 3
This was not a game for coaches. 8 mins to go and Sharks down 3-0. All stops
pulled out by the boys saw them score 3 goals in the next 5 mins to make it
3-3 full time. Golden goal extra time saw Bayside unfortunately score an own
goal resulting from a corner and line clearance. Well fought boys. Goals to
Dane 2 and Cameron 1.
Under 13
Sharks 0 v Strikers 1
This final went to extra time and golden goal. The boys had their chances at
goal and were unfortunate not to convert them and didn't give the oppositon
many chances at all, however the one chance that was given was accepted. Had
luck guys with a great game and good season to all boys.
Under 10
Makos 2 v Tornadoes 0
Tough game but Makos teamwork is coming together with a great second half. Steve
Becker had a great game in goal.
Under 9
Sharks 3 v Hammerheads 0
The Sharks played an all round excellent game giving us a 3-0 win over the Hammerheads.
WELL DONE LADS !!! Goals scored by Alex 1 Maxwell 2. A great defence played
by the M.O.M Matthew.
Under 6
Makos 3 V FCAC 0
Good game by both teams.Man of the match to Steven well done guys.
Senior Men
Hammerheads 0 v Sharks 0
A full side gave the Sharks a tough game . We were unlucky to score having the
majority of play and unable to convert our chances.
Ladies
Makos 0 v Sharks 3
Tonight Girls i didnt need to tell you that you had improved and were getting
better, when you walked off the field i could see on your faces that you were
happy and so you should be. Come a long way in a short time, it was just a lack
of finishing in front of goal that let us down and that will come. Strength
confidence and much better marking had us in this game. It was unfortunate for
a fellow clubmates to be missing players and then be one short due to a dismissal
but it was a good learning experience for us and we benefited greatly with the
space and time on ball. GO MAKOS one game left.
Under 16
Sharks 0 v Whales 1
An early goal had us fighting to the end with many chances going astray. Good
marking and teamwork got us in the position to score however it didn't come.
Strong games for all players.
Under 13
Sharks 3 v Orcas 0
The boys played one of their best games and kept the Orcas in their own half
for the majority of the game with their marking and when in possession keeping
it in their possession. Great game boys with the honours to all. Goals to R.
Knox 2 and A. Devereaux 1.
Under 11
Sharks 1 v Whales 1
Knockout semi and we took the early lead only to see the hungry whales equalize
halfway through the second half. The fulltime whistle saw us start again for
10 sach way and GOLDEN goal ruling. The boys running on fumes at this stage
dug even deeper and the chances were scrambled away at both ends of the field.
An eventual penalty shoot out was needed to find winner and we unfortunately
missed a couple of ours. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WHALES and every player on the
field deserves credit for this tremendous game. THANKS Sharks only asked for
100% and that is what i got, VERY PROUD OF YOU.
Under 8
Sharks 7 v Strikers 0
Sharks had another strong performance against Strikers who without some superb
keeping could have been hammered on the scoresheet, Mitchell scored the goal
of the season for the first of his double hat-trick.Was given plenty of opportunities
to score with some excellent crosses from Greg. All the guys went well with
Jacob scoring the other goal.
Under 7
Makos 7 v Sharks 0
A great game of soccer by both teams. Our goals were scored by Max Mclean(1),
Ryan Murray(2) and James Bowers(4). The boys all passed the ball well and played
together as a team. Sam Bean and Matthew Baumann played well in goals. Best
for the day were Sam Bean and James Bowers. Well done team.
Senior Men
Hammerheads 0 v FCAC 8
Team loyalty and committment is a limited resource these days and with 6 regulars
and 2 under 16's to make up the 8 made it difficult. At least we held them scoreless
for the first 15 minutes. Imagine if we had 11 !! Every time we have had the
full 11 we have not lost !
Senior Ladies
Makos 1 v FCAC 4
Having the full team to training on Tuesday night and then another 6 on Thursday
underlines the attitude and spirit of these Ladies. There are winners in this
team all over the park we just havnt been able to gain that victory we deserve,
though we battled on in typical MAKO spirit and certainly had the lions share
of the play particularly in the first half. Goals against were from break aways
and the advantage of speed and youth. Julie thoroughly deserved her goal as
she chased and fought for everything. Hope Chris has a nice holiday and see
her at the breakup party.
Junior Girls
Sharks 0 v BS Storm 0
A very close game with shots at goal but not going in. Samantha Sherry again
has proven herself as an excellent fullback, with Michelle Hall and Holly Gould
working up front as a team.
Under 16
Sharks 3 v Whales 2
A very close game with Cameron again getting a hattrick. Whales were very unlucky
not to have equalised atthe end. Solid performances by Ashley, Todd, Cameron
and Ryan.
Under 13
Sharks 1 v BS Lightning 0
A close tough knockout semi game with the sharks securing a higher percentage
of the possession and goal scoring opportunities. Converting these opportunities
will improve our results. Matthew Cartright put away the goal from some good
teamwork and a cutback from R. Knox (the easy goals boys). Great work.
Under 11
Sharks 1 v Hammerheads 1
Super games from Patrick, Chris, Jamie, Bowen and Tim, good goal with left foot
and later in goals.
Under 10
Makos 3 v Hammerheads 1
It was a great game and the teamwork is really coming together. Brad, Tom and
Oliver all scored a goal each and Steven kicked a beauty but unfortunately it
was just inside the circle. Well done team.
Under 8
Sharks 4 v Whales 0
Once again a dominant Sharks outfit defeated their opposition with a well disciplined
team effort, the boys are now gaining the confidence and skills to develop wonderful
teamwork passes are going to feet and without some exceptional keeping in the
first half from the opposition the score could have been much greater. Mitchell
and Greg had half a game each in goals and the remainder of the guys stood up
and played beyond their ages, with the loss of John O'Rourke to injury for the
season the defence stood up and kept the opposition out with the usual non stop
effort from Rory who I am sure has Red cordial for breakfast he is a ball of
energy every week. Zach and Michael also had strong defensive games. Greg, Liam,
Johnathon and Jacob were ruthless in attack and Mitchell had some blistering
runs down the sideline and was everywhere in attack and defence.
Under 6
Makos 0 v Strikers 1
Great improvement by all the boys, fantastic goal keeping by Trent and Jack.
Men of the match went to Nicholas and Anthony.
Senior Men
Hammerheads 3 v Bayside 1
A full team played as a team and reaped the rewards controlling the midfield
and having a solid defence. Goals to Todd and 2 for Josh.
Senior Ladies
Makos 1 v Bayside 5
Another gutsy and improved effort by the girls. The scoreline was indicitve
of their efforts. Gutsy little Catharina was injured in goals and Janette also
injured was a fine replacement, Sorry to lose Chris after next week mighty game,
Julie saw what Lizzy winges about and the mid girls once again shone but none
more than Cheryl for her talking and leadership. Paula's hard work at penalty
taking paid off and a special mention to the Referee who had a tremendous attitude
towards women soccer. THANK YOU FROM THE TEAM.
Under 16
Sharks 4 v Bayside 2
The lack of talk and organised midfield saw us 2-0 down at the break which was
rectified in the second half and managed 4 goals , 3 to Cameron and Todd with
the other. Thanks to Robbie and Daniel to fill in from the U13's.
Under 13
Sharks 6 v Bayside Lightning 1
A good passing game with all the boys chipping in. Goals to R. Knox 2, M. Cartwright,
T. Martin, N. Ryan and C. Dellit.
Under 11
Sharks 0 v Strikers 5
ROOSTERS ONE DAY, FEATHER DUSTERS THE NEXT. From where I sat players on both
sides had the same amount of limbs, though you wouldn't beleive it wacthing
the SHARKS. Why this team is our nemesis is beyond me. WE must STOP fighting
amongst our selves and CONCENTRATE on the oppositoin .
Under 9
Makos 1 v Strikers 0
Great teamwork and good sportsmanship. Tom scored our only goal, but every player
made a great contribution with Keegan taking out man of the match.
Under 6
Makos 3 v Sharks 1
Good game by all Jack and Sam scoring. Jake and Trent shared the bench, thank
you to them. both teams seemed to be running out of energy toward the end of
the game. Well done both teams on a great game.
Senior Men
Sharks 2 v FCAC 1
A very close and physical game with us losing our captain Paul Cavanough early
in the game. Our opening goal was scored by Allan Taylor with the winning goal
coming from Derek Palmer.
Sharks 1 v Whales 2
This was the first time this season we have been beaten by the Whales. We welcome
back Steven Hall, who with his first touch of the game scored the opening goal.
A couple of lapses in defence cost us 2 goals and the game.
Senior Ladies
Makos 1 v Kawungan Reds 2
Whilst not a game for the purists, I was engrossed watching this game between
two evenly matched sides, we took the lead halfway through the first half with
a scrappy goal from Julie and put together some other raids with a much improved
midfield with Sally and Gia combining well and some good thought going into
our play. Several lapses of discipline eventually led to the dismissal of one
our players and a later injury unsettled us considerably in the defencive line,
we have just started to handle our respective positions so it was a big ask
to play in unfamiliar positions. Though in typical MAKO style we did not give
up and were unlucky to lose this match. A super effort by Catharina who was
in goals for us and the rest of the team played far above themselves. We thank
Kawungan for the great match.
Under 16
Sharks 1 v FCAC 3
With the amount of possession and shots we had we should have won. Good games
for Cameron, Skinner, Ryan and Todd.
Under 13
Sharks 9 v Makos 2
The guys started passing again this game and showed in the result. Goals to
Matthew C. 3, Robbie 2, and with Steven, Max H., Daniel and Nick one each.
Under 11
Sharks 6 v Lightning 0
WOW PASSING THINKING LOOKING HOLDING POSITIONS could this be my team? Yes excellent
effort guys Patrick 1, Tim 2 and Jamie 3.The forwards combined well and the
mids were strong Darcy, Bowen and Justin setting up play well. The score was
nothing compared to the way the boys combined.
Under 10
Makos 5 v Cyclones 1
Good game by all the team. Well done on a great win.
Under 9
Makos 7 v Minkes 0
A great game - Tomas scoring 4 goals, Michael scoring 2 and Brad scoring
1, Derek played with Minkes to make up numbers and saved many a goal. Well done
team.
Under 8
Hammerheads 0 v Whales 1
What a good game for the crowd both teams played well never giving up attacking.
We just needed better direction towards the goal end well done team.
Makos 4 v Minkes 0
Great teamwork, lots of passing, player of the match went to Tyler Grahame .
Under 7
Sharks 3 v FCAC 0
Another good result with everybody contributing to the win. As each week progresses
the team seems to be getting better and better. Goals scored by Billy Saunders,
James Martin and Brendan Lye. Player of the match was Brendan Lye.
Under 6
Makos 0 v Lightning 0
Great game by all our players. Man of the match goes to Trent. Thank you to
Jake for playing for the other team. Well done boys.
Senior Men
Hammerheads forfeit v Kawungan Whales
We could only manage 7 players for the game and decided to play with a full
team and have a friendly game with a few ringins. With the side made up to 11
players thanks to the U16's, Sharks and the Whales we managed to win 2-0. Thanks
all.
Ladies
Makos 0 v Kawungan Blues 4
This is one coach who needs to go on hols more often, for both his and the teams
sake. Saw the same happy faces but it was coupled with confidence and a better
understanding of a game that was NEW to so many of them. This is a great team
to be involved with and we have our goals and they will be acheived on tonights
formatch. Super games by Janette, in goals, Gia with good foresight, Tracie
for never shutting up and Pammy for her tremendous team spirit. Tireless efforts
by Lizzy, Michelle and Chris again. ONWARDS AND UPWARDS LADIES.
Under 16
Sharks 3 v Whales 0
This was a close game and the difference between the two sides was in defence
and the middle where the Sharks had the edge. Goals to Brad, A. Skinner and
Ben.
Under 13
Sharks 0 v Dolphins 5
We were outplayed on the day with our boys not securing the ball and giving
it away too easily unlike previous weeks. Daniel K, both Matthews, Corey and
Anthony had good games.
Makos 0 v Strikers 9
The Mako's battled hard throughout the game but were up against a very strong
side. Don't give up Mako's we still have a lot to play for. Man of the Match
Michael Fischer.
Under 7
Sharks 5 v Hammerheads 0
This was our best result ever for the season. All kids played really well and
deserved to win the game. Goals scored by James Martin with 4 and Brendan Lye
with 1. Our best players were James Martin and Mallory Batchelor.
Senior Men
Hammerheads 2 v Sharks 6
Another reasonable effort by the Hammerheads against the FA cup winners &
playing yet again a couple short of the eleven. A slow start saw us down 5-0
at the half time break. The second half seemed to be played within 40 yds with
both sides playing the offside trap but to our credit we won the second half.
Thanks to Tim McLaughlin and Andrew Skinner who filled in for us from the U16's
and had a good game in goal.
Ladies
Makos 2 v Sharks 4
We started wonderfully, but where was the coach? On holidays of course. Playing
the Sharks is always a daunting task but we played well scoring our second and
third goals of the season, well done ladies. Kristy and Julie attacked the ball
well with Julie scoring both goals and the cartwheels were excellent thank you
Tracy and Julie. Where was the coach? Still on holidays. A big thank you to
David who helped with the team in Garys absence. Well done ladies!!!
Junior Girls
Sharks 2 v Bayside Storm 0
A very tight game with both sides playing well. Samantha Sherry played a very
good defensive game at the back . In the last minutes of the second half Catharina
Korhecz passed the ball to Angela Wilkins who broke free to score. Great team
work by all. Well done girls.
Under 16
Sharks 3 v Strikers 2
A close game which seesawed all the way with the Sharks coming out on top at
the end. A goal each to Wade and Cameron , and an own goal gave us the tally.
Jay in goal ,Dane, James, Cameron, Todd and Andrew held the team together well
. Goals Dane 2, Wade 1.
Under 13
Sharks 2 v Kawungan Orcas 1
A great game of soccer to watch with the Sharks maintaining a high percentage
of possesion throughout the match. The boys started well and allowed the Orcas
in first to an early goal and to their credit fought back to end up taking the
match to a well deserved 2-1 win. All players got the man of the match this
week for such a good allround team effort. Goals to N. Ryan and A. Devereaux.
Mako's 7 v Kawungan Whales 3
A Brilliant game played by all. Great passing and ball control displayed by
the Mako's. Goals by Lindsay, Timothy, Dwayne and 4 goals scored by M.O.M Mark
Wecker.
Under 11
Sharks 4 v Whales 0
Well the boys showed us that they can pass the ball and it showed in the final
score. All the boys played well with Nick , Chris, Darcy shining out. Goals
by Tim and 3 to Nick. Well done boys
Finals of the Favourite Pets Federation Cup
Senior Men
Sharks 3 v Whales 2
This was the final of the Favourite Pets Federation Cup. It took 114 minutes for the winner to be decided. This game was a close hard fought game, that sometimes got very physical when tempers flared. Our goals were scored by Allan Taylor, Dane Grabbe and the match winner by Josh Graham. This was a great team effort with everyone having a hand in the victory. A big thankyou to Jock of Jock's Paints and Qld Sporting Imports who are our sponsors.
Ladies
Sharks 2 v Kawungan Blues 0
A magnificent effort from a very committed Sharks team saw them overcome their
nemises Kawungan Blues 2-0 in the ladies F.A. Cup Final.
Goals by Tiffany Irving and Yasmin Carlos in the first 15 minutes were enough
to do the job for the Sharks. Well led in the midfield by captain Julie O'Donnell
and with very solid defense marshalled well by Trina Friel , the Sharks repulsed
all Kawungan attacks.
Bee Darby and Kristel Hawes added attacking flair down the flanks and with Vicki
Hogan hustling hard, the blues defense was always extended. Josie McDuff, Pam
Kitson, Sharnie Miles and Kellie Vial were exceptional in defence with goalkeeper
Renee Irving and Corrin Miles saving some solid shots and very good posionl
play.
Special mention to Helen Hatchett, who played an integral part in getting the
team to the finals and who is now in retirement expecting her first child. Well
done Helen.
Thanks also goes to new sponsors Bradnams and Hervey Bay Door &
Kitchen Centre who have their first major trophy to adorn their businesses.
Senior Men
Hammerheads 2 v FCAC 3
We managed to scramble 10 players for the game. A slow start saw us 3-1 down
at half time trying to counter the extra man, then in the second half after
a few positional changes we managed to get on top and couldn't quite put away
the chances. Well done guys, note that training changed to Tuesdays 6-30 and
starts up after the school holidays.
Ladies
Makos 1 v FCAC 3
For the fist time this season, we have been competive enough to question certain
judgements and bounces of the ball. This developed into a fiercely contested
game which brought forward a competive attitude previously untapped as is our
way the best soccer was played in the second half. Laxxy was tireless along
with Michelle, Sally featured thoughout the game capping it off with a sharply
taken goal. We wish to dedicate this loss to our long-suffering goalkeeper
Susy sadly leaving the team.THANK YOU AND GOOD LUCK
Under 16
Sharks 1 v FCAC 3
A tough encounter for the 9 regular players and one 13 yo playing up found it
difficult to contain FCAC in the first half. The second half was promising with
Jay going into midfield controlling the play. Strong games from Ryan and Todd
in defence.
Junior Girls
Sharks 0 v Kawungan Hotshots 5
Another exciting game from shaeks with excellent teamwork up front with Michelle
Hall having 2 brilliant attempts at goal. Strong defence in the backs and midfield
with some effective passes.
Under 13
Sharks 8 v Whales 1
What a difference passing makes! The boys took some of our training into the
first half and started like a train being 5 up within 15 mins and scoring 3
more with the half time score being 8-0. Then we forgot our training and first
half and decided to go back to our old ways and struggled allowing one in and
not scoring any more. Goal scorers N. Ryan 5, A. Devereaux, C. Dellit and S.
Knox. Good games from everyone on the park with M. McLaughlan and A. Devereaux
standing out.
Under 11
Sharks 2 v Hammerheads 3
This intraclub clash was a non-event as both teams decided to share the halfs
of football and see what came out at the end. Sharks were lacking in enthusiasm
and the Hammerheads were in second gear after the break leading by 3 the final
result was fair and bring on the holidays YEHAHAHA Welcome back Zac.

A very tight game and both teams played a good defensive game. Derek scored
Makos only goal and Michael Sherry saved some great attempts.
Under 7
Sharks 1 v Minkes 3
After starting the game slowly, and being 3 nil down at halftime, we came out
in the second half a more determined side and played the best we have all season,
considering we were short of players. Our best players were Brooke Palmer and
Billy Saunders.
Under 6
Makos 0 v FCAC 3
Excellent goal keeping by Trent another good team effort and Men of the Match
to both Sam and Steven.
Ladies
Makos 1 v Strikers 10
It would appear that the late game was not to our liking, a great turnup with
3 subs but we seemed to be ready to go to bed, till the halftime break gave
us a wake-up we came out with a bit more urgency and Julie scrambled home a
goal.
Under 13
Sharks 0 v Strikers 1
Quite an entertaining and very close game with the strikers managing the only
goal of the match. Maxim in goal, Anthony were our best with a welcome to Corie
, who had a good first up game.
Under 11
Sharks 1 v Strikers 3
Was very proud of boys today, once again bare minimum, though we lifted our
game considerably. Playing this top team seems to daunt us somehow till we scored
in the 2nd half and realised they have the same amount of appendages as us and
CAN BE BEATEN boys. Created several chances and the goals scored against us
were only due to complacency and lack of marking.Chris and Bowan stuck to their
tasks well and had strong and influential games, Nicholas and Patrick were great
in goals and Tim took a very nice goal after good leadup work from Nicholas.
Matt was safe at the back along with Darcy and Justin.
Under 8
Sharks 6 v Tigersharks 0
Sorry it has taken so many weeks for a report on the u8 Sharks i guess I was
waiting for someone else to write it, Mark Broome's team continued their undefeated
run this season with a 6-0 defeat of Tigersharks, A first half hat -trick to
Greg Knox who took on the main strike role with Mitchell away, the team as a
whole played very well with everyone taking part in the goals some excellent
passing skills from Michael ,Jake and Jonathan led to the first scoring opportunities
backed up by some great defensive work as we have come to expect from Rory,
Zach and John O'Rourke. With the team firing in front of him Liam was left to
freeze in the goal with very little to do.
In the second half Greg took on the role of goalie and the team continued their
attacking raids on goal which resulted in three more goals two to John O'Rourke
and one to Jonathan. To their credit the Tigersharks never stopped trying and
they were aided greatly by some strong saves from their two keepers one in either
half who kept the Shark attack to only six. A great team effort today with an
impossible decision to single any one player as best on ground .
Mark is back next week I am glad that I kept the unbeaten run going in his absence.
Senior Men
Hammerheads 1 v Bushrangers 5
With new players in the team we were unorganised and this was taken advantage
of by the Bushrangers constantly threatening at goal. The half time break gave
us a chance to reorganise and sure up defence. With regulars returning to the
team will steady the line-up and produce some results after the long weekend.
Senior Ladies
Makos 0 v Kawungan 1
A solid base of players now, and it is starting to show. Glimpses of developing
TEAM SPIRIT whilst having fun, welcome Christie to our HAPPY team. A bit of
pace up front, some resemblance of midfield and enthusiasm went a long way tonight.
ONWARDS AND UPWARDS no Janelle didn't score, stay tuned though.
Junior Girls
Sharks 1 v FCAC 0
Sharks taped into their reserve of talent and won. Great teamwork by Tamara
Hughes scoring the only goal which was setup by Angela Wilkins(captain). Chantelle
Wilkins in goal made some excellent saves.

Makos 2 v Lightning 4
A good all round performance, a little on the hesitant side during the 1st half
but came out fighting in the 2nd, we were definately unlucky to lose this one.
Both goals by Timothy Rae and M.O.M Rhys Duce debut game in goal, thanks for
stepping in Rhys, You did a top job !!
Sharks 4 v FCAC 0
The team fell back to kick and chase in the first half and still managed 2 goals
then reverted to a passing game which improved the game for the spectators and
added another 2 goals. Nick Ryan and Robbie Knox both got 2 each and the teams
man of the match went to Anthony Devereax.
Under 11
Sharks 2 v Lightning 0
A typical gritty game by the boys, though lacking in defence, structure and
positioning. They certainly give their all, great attacking by Tim again scoring
one and setting up the other. He deserved his award for the month along with
Jake who did some talking prior to the game and backed it up well. Justin, Chris
and Nichlas(1 goal) had strong games .
Under 8
Tigersharks 2 v Strikers 1
As the first win for the year it was a good one we had a lot of opportunities
but only two made the back of the net. Well done to the new player Trent Scheuer

Great team effort including the ring ins Aaron was outstanking by scoring all
our goals and Jordie was awarded man of the match.

Makos 4 v FCAC 1
Another great game. The boys are playing well as a team, passing the ball and
talking to each other. It gets harder each week to pick the best players as
the boys are all playing so well. Goals were scored by James Bowers, Ryan Murray,
Daniel Read and Max McLean. Players of the day were Max McLean and Stuart Sutherland.
Well done team.
Under 6
Makos 2 v Strikers 2
Good team effort, Great game by the boys who had no training last week. They
remembered some training drills and kept the strikers goal rate down. Jack passed
the ball to allow Steven to score well done boys a great team effort by all
with Anthony man of the match.
Senior Mens
Bushrangers 0 v FCAC 1
The Bushrangers started well with some good skillful play but failed to take
the goal scoring opportunities when they arrived. The College kicked off with
ten men but as the game progressed they seemed to have had twelve or thirteen
on the field as the Bushrangers failed to man up.
The passing game that was spoken about before the kick-off was a distant memory
after the first 15 mins as we played for the remainder of the game was as individuals
who over used the ball trying to do too much on our own instead of playing like
we have in the past.
The result was a fair one in my eyes as we didn't play as well as we could have
and the college deserved the win. The college goal was 10 mins from the end
with a penalty.
The simple fact is Bushrangers if we don't score we will not win and we can't
blame anything or one else.
Jason Livingstone stood in as keeper this week & had a great game. Don,
Ross and Micky did a great job to keep the college forwards from scoring.
I was told the game was a great game to watch, I was disappointed with the Bushrangers
but it was good to play in fast and hard with end to end action.
If the Bushrangers hope to play well, then they must learn to play as a team
not as individuals. Not one player in the squad is any more important or valuable
to have on the field. One, two or three players don't make a team, eleven players
make the team. The Bushrangers was formed as a team of blokes wanting to enjoy
the game as a team not a group of self-praising individuals. Until we come to
terms with that we better get used to this weeks scoreline.
Report by
David Marshall
Hammerheads 0 v Whales 3
After starting the game with a man down we rallied to finish the first half
being 1 down from a penalty. After half time we lost another player and yet
another through injury 25 mins into the second half, as well as Manly soldiering
on with a torn thigh muscle and his steading influence, solid defence and intellegent
play to help to keep the score down to only 3. All in all there was some great
soccer being played from the whole team.
Senior Ladies
Makos 0 v Kawungan Reds 6
The Girls were certainly under pressure but battled mightily holding the opposition
out well and showing a lot more confidence on the ball. Everyone played above
themselves, though must mention new player Cheryl, Morag, Tracie and Paula and...No
need to ask who the leading goalscorer for our team is though , if you want
to be a forward just ask ok Janelle.
Under 13
Sharks 1 v Lightening 1
Our usual solid control passing game was missing in this game until 5 minutes
from the final whistle, instead we were panicking against a good scrambling
defence. Max Hatton scored our goal through a good passage of play.
Under 11
Hammerheads 4 v Kawungan Whales 0
The Hammerheads are a much improved team from last year, this season to date
they have only lost one game. After leading 1-0 at half time they produced some
good football in the second half to run out 4-0 winners against a determined
Kawungan side. Goals - Elliot 2, Mark & Brayden 1 each. Great team effort
guys! Special mention to Jayde and Tom at the back, Elliot, Brayden and Martin
in midfield and Mark up front.

Sharks 1 v Whales 0
Both teams showed improvement in their skills and endurance. The Sharks coach
is happy with his teams progress. There were many excellent plays, passes and
runs up the field by all members of the team. Special recommendation goes to
Tim Shaw for scoring the lone goal and at the same time showing his team play
on defense. Ben Hindmarsh showed he listens to the coach in practise by giving
an opponent the sidelines to run up and cutting off the every dangerous middle.
Arian Dubroy is also to be commended for his strong defense. Player of the match
is Callan who played well in net and when playing on the forward line showed
some very good strategic moves and set a number of players up for shots toward
goal.

Sharks 3 v Hammerheads 3
Sharks - After a very poor 1st half and being 2-1 down at half time,
we came out and played much better in the 2nd half and came back from 3-1 down
to level the scores at 3 all in the end. Goal scorers where J.Lewis, P.Cavanough
and S.Hall.
Hammerheads - With the mixture of the old and the young we played some
pretty good football with a couple of lapses which resulted in goals against.
Well played guys . Goals to Josh 2 and Mark 1.
SS Bushrangers 10 v Bayside Strikers 0
The Bushrangers had a wake-up call for the first 30 mins of the first half,
where the Strikers pressure was enough to make us play outside our normal game.
The Strikers could have scored two goals in the first 30 mins and that sparked
the Bushrangers back to life coming off with 4 goals in the remaining 15 mins
of the half.
The second half started as the first finished with another 6 goals and some
very entertaining soccer. Bushrangers goals were from Fernando 4, Bobby 3 Ross,
Joe & Drew 1 each.
I must congratulate the young Strikers team, they kept on battling away and
never gave up at any stage of the game.It will come stick in.
Saturday 26th May at 4.45 The Bushrangers plays FCAC in a replay of last years
Grand Final. Please come down and support both The Bay's strongest club Sandy
Straits and the HBUSC. The Bushrangers would like to thank everyone who contributed
to the $30.00 raised for Young Gun Joe Longworth.

were getting better and of course they were because they had scored 2 own goals
tonight hahaha GO GIA and JANELLE. Good games from Janette and Chris and thanks
to Tamara for helping us out and had a great game. Good game by the Sharks I
think they got 8 or 10.

Sharks 0 v Hotshots 6
Sharks played an exciting game with skill to spare under the captainship of
Chelsea Kilbride. Catharina Korhecz and Tamara Hughes played well up front.
A special mention must go to Samantha Sherry who played a very good key defensive
game to keep the score low. Yasmin Horsburgh as goalkeeper made some excellent
saves.

Sharks 3 v Bushrangers 4
After starting the game with 10 players, and being 3 nil down midway through
the first half, we fought back to finish the game 4-3 in the opponents favour.
Unfortunately,we missed a penalty which would of gave us a draw. Goals scored
by J.Graham, R.Stewart and S.Hall. Best players were D.Grabbe and R.Stewart.
Hammerheads 1 v FCAC 2.
A very close match with us loosing a player early to a red card. The team is
starting to mesh well and with some successfull finishing will be a force. Our
goal resulted from a penalty from constant pressure, put away by Darron and
got another later on which was saved by the keeper.
Senior Ladies
Mako's 0 v FCAC 2
Another much improved effort byt the Ladies who were very competitive in this

We were up against a very good side and the match was won and lost in the midfield.
Good games by all and standing out were Paul Josephson, Daniel Korhecz and Max
Hatton in goals.
Makos 2 v Strikers 4
Mako's were on top for the first 20 minutes then we allowed the strikers back
in the game. Two great goals scored by Timothy Rae just wasn't enough to win
the game. Man of the Match Timothy Rae.

Sharks 1 v Hammerheads 1
It is no secret that our training sessions are a disaster, though it seems playing
our fellow clubmates brought the best out of us. After conceding a goal early
in the first half the guys battled back well to create several chances, a nice
goal from Patrick was the equalizer and Darcy, Jake and Bowan had strong games
with Jamie improving in the mid-field.

Sharks 4 v BS Cyclones 2
The Sharks are a team of aspiring stars. Each team member is improving with
each game. We had greats efforts from every player. Our scoring leader is of
course of center forward Tim Hindmarsh who placed three smart goals behind the
keeper.Aiden Betts scored our other goal after hard work up front.
Makos 2 v Whales 1
A good strong game fought hard by both teams.Makos looked to have gone to sleep
in the 1st half going into the break 1-0 down but two quick goals scored early
in the second half by Samir Bektas seemed to rouse the boy's and they all fired
well till the end to win 2-0.Great game all over the field was had by Kyle Grima.
Man of the match awards went to Trent Searle for great assist and to Murry McInnes
for great defence.Well done to all the boys. Terry.

Goals were scored by Max and James who were also the players of the day. It

Just Not Cricket !
For the crowd that turned up to see the Team that was touted to be the pre-season
favourites may have wished they where watching cricket.
For once again as in past years the Bushrangers dictated play and commanded
the ball for all of the first 45 mins. Goals from Fernando, Rob, Bobby and Joe
allowed the Bushrangers to go in at half time 4-0 up.
Evan though the older players of the Bushrangers only had one player on the
bench they still managed to play the better football for 35 mins of the second
half.
The Bushrangers slackened off and allowed the Whales into the game but only
just managed to pierce the solid defence once with a soft goal but a much deserved
goal as a consolation for at least trying.
The Bushrangers would like to invite all Sandy Straits Players, members, friends,
to the Hervey Bay Utd Soccer Club on Saturday 12th May for the English F.A.
Cup Final, K/Off at 11.00pm to help raise money for the over 35's Soccer.
Hammerheads 3 v Bayside 0
Another game of "get to know you" but with more understanding than
last week. We started with both teams down 2 players and as players turned up
we had the numbers advantage and combined to score the 3. Goal scorers Josh
2 and Gary with the other.
Senior Women
Mako's 0 v Strikers 6
A goal in the first 30 secs did not help us settle down real well, but the girls
battled well and were undaunted by their more experienced opponents and at times
showing glimpses of form to come. Pam would have to be the most improved at
the moment and again tireless efforts by Lizzy and Michelle, Julie has to remember
when she is playing Rugby and when she is not and it was good that Janelle had
lost her voice and was not able to give me any lip. The team wants to thank
the Junior girls who helped us out . Holly, Tamara and Catharina You can play
with us any time.

Sharks 1 v Orcas 4
The team was let down by a couple of "no shows" and took the field
with 9 boys and help from u11 player Elliot who played and extremely good game
and meshed with the team. We held to 1-1 at half time but the boys tired in
the heat and eventually surcomed. The team goal scored by Robbie after good
leadup by Nick. A super effort from all the boys and wish the 3 lads who were
sitting for the FCAC scholarship exams have success.

What can I say, no subs, two injured players. The Mako's ran their little hearts
out . Well done. Man of the match Akin Alagoz, excellent goalkeeping

Sharks 0 v Strikers 4
A much improved positional game by the sharks, though we are still searching
for the right combination. Whilst we were 2 down at halftime, it was our best
half of the game and the boys fought well being one short again. We created
several chances and were just unlucky not to capitolise on them. The second
half was very scrappy with the wheels falling off due to some poor positional
changes. Super efforts from Matthew at the back and Chris didnt give up all

Very hard and physical encounter. We were lucky to go to half time with the
score being nil all. Midway through the second half, a good cross from Josh
Graham took a deflection off a whales opponent to give us a 1 nil lead. Fortunately,
we were able to defend and hold onto this score line. Big games from P.Darlison
and P.Cavanough.
Mako's 0 v S.S. Bushrangers 4
A good result for the Mako's considering the team was pu together in a couple
of days. The first half was basically a get to know for most as well as having
a good share of the ball . We kept the Bushrangers to 0-0 in the second half.

This was a tremendously competitive game as the standard of both teams had risen
considerably since our last meeting .It was a delight to have a full team tonight
and the team benefited greatly ,the girls ,though new to the game held their
positions well and put into practise some new found skills. We also did something
new tonight and that was attack with our inexperienced forward line showing
heaps of potential.Though 1 down at halftime the girls pressure paid off with
the equalizer coming with 10 mins to go.Strong games from all and sundry and
i think they even surprised themselves .

A good game with a slow start by our boys who just could not find the back of
the net in the first half with half time score of 0-0. Second half the simple
approach was made and 4 goals resulted with still a few more gone begging. Man
of the match went to Paul Josephson . Goals to Nick Ryan(3) and Robert Knox(1).
Mako's 1 v FCAC 2
An excellent game played by both teams. After the Makos going 2-0 behind early

Mako's - A great first game effort with a top goal by Tomas.
Shark's - For our first game of the season this was a great game to watch. Both
teams were well matched and the Makos slipped on into the corner of the goal
in the first half. If all our games are this good the kids should have a very
competitive season ahead of them. Great game by both teams and welcome to all

This match was a great deal closer than the score shows although the score
does show the difference between the two teams ability to play as a team. Again,
it was extremely difficult to seperate any one from the pack with everyone putting
in their contribution to the team effort. Scorers were Robbie Knox (2) and Matthew
